Hunting
Honor and Valor Outdoors provides various hunting opportunities to Veterans throughout the year. Each Veteran participant is allowed to bring a family member or friend. The Veteran’s plus one does not need to be a Veteran.
The various hunting trips we do throughout the year are duck hunts, goose hunts, turkey hunts, and pheasant hunts. All Veterans will receive ammo for their hunt and Honor and Valor Outdoors team members will work to ensure that other accommodations are met. These accommodations can include hotel stays, any gear needed for the hunt, meals, licensing, etc. If interested in participating in one of these hunting trips, please fill out the application and waiver under the “Sign Up” tab.
Duck Hunts:
Our duck hunts typically are conducted throughout the Green Bay area. The hunts can be both in the field or on the water, depending on the duck activity at that time. Water hunts will be conducted on the shoreline or in a boat with a blind. Field hunts will be conducted in layout blinds or A-frame blinds. The Green Bay area floods with many ducks to include diver ducks throughout the season with mass migrations happening in the late October through November time. These ducks include Red Heads, Canvasbacks, Blue Bills, Golden Eyes and BuffleHeads.
Goose Hunts:
Our goose hunts are almost all done in the fields. We use a variety of corn, alfalfa and winter wheat fields to stay on top of what the geese are eating. The goose hunts are conducted out of layout blinds and A-frame blinds. Goose hunting is what we typically focus on due to the higher success rate and predictability of the birds. Our goose hunts are usually easier for the participants. North East WI gets bombarded with Canadain Geese throughout the season. These birds work decoys great and are sure to put a smile on anyone’s face.
Turkey Hunts:
Our turkey hunts are conducted throughout the Wisconsin Zone 2 (Northeast WI) area. Turkey licenses are on a draw system, therefore, applications must be purchased in the fall before the spring season. If participants are unsuccessful at drawing a tag, they are able to purchase leftover tags on set dates provided by the WI DNR. Our hunts are conducted on various private properties and usually are done in a pop up blind. Turkey season is a great time to get out and enjoy nature. Participants can expect to see various wildlife and have a chance at a big thanksgiving bird.
Pheasant Hunts:
Our pheasant hunts are conducted at various pheasant farms throughout the area. The pheasants are planted by farm personnel and then hunted while walking online through the field. Pheasant hunts are the easiest for participants to participate in and have the highest success rate. Field conditions are usually good with solid ground to walk on. Our pheasant hunts can also include Chukar and Quail if requested.
Annual Pheasant Hunt:
Our annual pheasant hunt is conducted around a tower with ten wooden stations surrounding it. 100 pheasants are purchased and then released from the tower throughout a ten round shoot. Each hunter will shoot from all ten positions before the hunt is done. Lunch is provided after the hunt for all participants.
