About
Honor and Valor Outdoors has been providing free guided fishing and hunting trips to Veterans since 2015. A small group of friends came together and had the idea to get Veterans into the outdoors at no cost to them. Our board consists of 6 members to ensure each activity is properly planned, coordinated and accommodations are fulfilled. All members are not paid, volunteer their time and are fully dedicated to providing the best outdoor experience for each Veteran participant.
Meet our amazing team.

I am a civilian in the best country in the world! I grew up surrounded by vets from family members to best friends. I observed the hardships they all endured whether they had been discharged recently, or been out a long time. This is what drives me to get vets together to enjoy the freedoms that they preserved.
Andrew Zegers
Financial Director
I am very passionate about the outdoors and the activities that our organization provides Veterans. I grew up duck and goose hunting and still spend a lot of time in the fields and marshes. I more recently started fishing and currently head up our fishing program. I enjoy many of my summer days spent on the water. I am deeply passionate about our organization and getting to share my passions for the outdoors with veterans. Seeing them light up when they catch a fish or shoot their first bird is hard to beat. I did not serve in the military, so I see this as the best way I can give back to those that put it all on the line for us to have the freedoms we enjoy.
Jim Vande Leest
President of the organization
I’m a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served 4 years with one tour to Afghanistan. While in the military, I lost my passion for the outdoors and just kind of “went through the motions” without the normal enjoyment. It wasn’t until I went on a hunt with this very organization, that I re-ignited my passion and got back into it. Now the thrill for me isn’t just in the trip, but the camaraderie and solace the trip can provide.
